Hello everyone, my name is Anna Chekunova – I am a professional shopper-stylist and image maker in Italy. I know for sure that travelers and tourists go to Milan not only to see local attractions. The La Scala Opera House, the spires of the Duomo and the stadium of the titled football team are of secondary importance to them. The most important thing for my stylish clients is shopping in the city center in Milan, where all the brightest new items of the fashion season are collected in one space!
Shopping in the city center of Milan – expensive and beautiful!
The center of attraction for fashionable youth, businessmen, artists in Milan is the famous boutiques in the city center, and for good reason. It is the Italian quality of cut and style that have been known throughout the world for centuries, and here in sunny Italy are many factories where they sew products of luxury brands.

The center of Milan is an elite shopping area – many may think that the prices here are “biting”, but for connoisseurs of high fashion and followers of the most modern trends, this is the right place for shopping, where you can immediately find everything you need.
Where to go shopping in Milan?
There are several popular places for shopping in the center, and I recommend starting your shopping trip with them. Among them are the galleries and streets of Milan.
Gallery Vittorio Emmanuele II – haute couture
Gallery Vittorio Emmanuele II is the oldest shopping center in the city. Its construction lasted 12 years from 1865 to 1877, and now there are dozens of boutiques offering the latest in Italian fashion, and the famous seven-star Town House Seven Stars Galleria, where the cost of rooms per night starts from 5 thousand euros. Book in advance!
The Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II is considered one of the main attractions of the city. The harmonious architectural shape of the passage in the form of a Latin cross with an octagonal center is perhaps the most popular place for photos in Milan.

The glass roofs and the highest 47-meter dome in the middle create a wonderful feeling in the gallery space. The walls are decorated with mosaics depicting all the continents except Australia, bright frescoes, sculptures and fancy stucco. The floor is made of mosaics with the coats of arms of Milan, Turin, Rome and Florence. There is something to admire here.

Via Torino – casual for young people
Via Torino is a straight, wide and very touristy street leading to Piazza Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The shops on this street are mostly focused on youth and practical things.
Via Dante – children’s clothing, urban chic and bars
On one of the central streets in Milan called Via Dante – there are shops with a wide variety of goods by price and purpose. This is also a very touristy place, so shopping here needs to be done wisely. So:
Shopping on Via Dante street in the center of Milan
If you want to buy shoes, clothes – go to Max&Co, Desigual, Lacoste or more affordable, but no less high-quality OVS and Nadin.
Cosmetics in the cute shops of Kiko, L’Occitane, Sephora and Lush. Bags and wallets, including accessories for men – Piquadro, Carpisa, Uno de 50, Swarovsky and Lola&Grace.
Men’s clothing and shoes – in Angelico, Guttebridge, Celio, Food Locker, Le Coq Sportif.
Here on Via Dante I recommend you visit good wedding, fashionable children’s boutiques (Chicco, Canetta, Petit-bateau, Jacadi, Du Pareil au même) and one of the best toy stores – Imaginarium.
A map on your phone or just a quick glance around will help you quickly find stores and branded points of sale for branded items – everything is nearby, you won’t get lost.
How to save money when buying branded items in Milan
For those who want to save money when buying branded items in the city center in Milan, I recommend going shopping during the discount season or visiting the outlets, where items from past seasons’ collections are usually presented with discounts of up to 80%.
You can also get a refund of up to 22% of the cost of your purchase using the Tax Free system.
Time, opening hours of boutiques in Milan
On weekdays, the usual opening hours of central stores are from 9-30 to 13-00, and also from 15-30 to 19-30. The interval between these intervals is occupied by siesta – a hot time for midday rest. Large department stores Standa, Upim, La Rinascente work during the day without a break. Grocery stores are closed on Sun and partly on Mon – check in advance.
Are boutiques open in Milan on Sunday – no
Almost all boutiques have the same opening hours on Sunday: this day is a day off. Sunday rest is extended to Monday morning. Before Christmas, most boutiques work seven days a week so that as many people as possible can buy new clothes before the holidays.
When to go shopping in the city center of Milan?
The best shopping in Milan is during the peak periods of two sales: winter and summer. Bargain shopping in Milan in January begins after the first Saturday of January, when prices are reduced on those things that were not bought before the Christmas holidays. A similar summer sale starts on the first Saturday of June. Sales last 2 months. You can save a significant amount during sales: at first, discounts are 25-30%, and closer to the end of the sales, you can buy the item you like for 75-80% less than the original price.
Advantages of shopping in the Italian Mecca of style and fashion
A trip to Italy and a shopping tour for shopping attracts tourists from all over the world. The favorable cost of things and a wide selection of models and sizes of products from famous Italian manufacturers is the number one advantage.
The difference in price compared to other Italian cities (Rome, Piacenza, Torino) can be up to 50% in favor of the buyer.
Regular collection updates – Milan is the center of world fashion, new items are released here with enviable regularity. Unsold collections are removed from the shelves at the end of the season to make room for the display of new models.
A large selection – shops in Milan offer several times more models of things than similar boutiques in Moscow.
A guarantee of originality – boutiques guarantee 99.99% that the item purchased from them is a designer item and was sewn in Italy. It is not customary to sell Chinese fakes with a price inflated by several dozen times, as is sometimes done in our boutiques.
Be stylish and beautiful, and come shopping in Italy!
