Milan Fashion Week and Alta Moda Roma: how to get to the fashion shows
What famous designers will surprise you with in the new season? What fabrics and color schemes will come into fashion? What will stars wear to the fashion shows? We are eagerly awaiting the answers to these and other questions on the eve of Milan Fashion Week, and then Rome.
When is Fashion Week?
Milan Fashion Week, or Milan Fashion Week, is held twice a year, in the twenties of September and in late February – early March. It is the third in the calendar, after New York and London. There are five world fashion capitals in total, and the Italian shows are followed by fashion weeks in Paris and Tokyo.
Milan Fashion Week 2015
Milan Fashion Week 2015, which took place this year from September 23 to 28, was remembered for its retro motifs of the 30s from Salvatore Ferragamo, luxurious dresses Moschino with elements of work uniform and the romantic baroque style from Etna in the Spring-Summer 2016 collections.
Even before the events begin, you can meet famous stylists, fashion bloggers, and editors of glossy magazines on the streets of the Italian fashion capital. Photographers report on Street Fashion, and the festive atmosphere reigns in the elegant city.
Milan Fashion Week is distinguished by its patriotism: mainly Italian fashion houses take part in the shows: Gucci, Prada, Elisabetta Franchi, Alberta Ferretti, Simonetta Ravizza, Fendi, DSquared2 and others. Each show is a fashion show with a unique concept.
Tickets for Milan Fashion Week
Usually Milan Fashion Week is a closed event, invitation tickets for which are available exclusively to industry professionals, celebrities, fashion bloggers and journalists.
But there are exceptions to every rule. If you book a personal shopping with me during Miana Fashion Week, we will include a joint visit to fashion shows in the program, and I will take care of the invitation tickets.
Coming to Milan for sightseeing, but dreaming of attending a fashion show? Contact me to arrange an entrance ticket to a show or trunk show.
What is a trunk show?
A trunk show is a closed show in a showroom for buyers, boutique owners, a small circle of journalists and important clients of the brand.
You will not meet celebrities at a trunk show. Visiting a trunk show in Milan is a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes of the world of high fashion and see a new collection before its official presentation.
The event ends with a gala buffet, during which you can get to know other guests better.
Unlike trunk shows, fashion shows are organized at venues that can accommodate hundreds of guests: in large showrooms, hotels and even in the open air in the historical center of the city.
Prêt-à-porter shows in Milan
Milan is famous for its prêt-à-porter shows, or, in other words, ready-to-wear collections. The items presented on the catwalk are of high quality, but are made for a wide audience. You will be able to buy the clothes and accessories you like in boutiques and shopping centers in a few months.
Prêt-à-porter shows are organized by both fashion brands with a history and young designers.
My high expectations are always met by the shows of my friend, the designer Mario Dice, who describes his style as feminine and sophisticated, dynamic and elegant. Mario started his career at Calvin Klein in New York, and today he dresses Italian celebrities.

I am happy to invite clients to the shows of the Japanese brand Anteprima, characterized by airy femininity, sensuality and lightness. Anteprima’s signature style is loose fit and a calm color palette complemented by bright floral patterns.

The warm Italian sea is reminiscent of the weightless Spring-Summer 2016 collection from Blumarine, presented at the latest Milan Fashion Week. Translucent fabrics in white, sky-blue and soft pink, and black evening dresses with floral motifs are associated with a trip on an expensive cruise.

Marine motifs are also prominently featured in the new Max Mara collection: variations of black and white and white and red stripes, ship prints and strict pencil skirts vaguely reminiscent of sailors’ uniforms.

The Milan Fashion Week 2015 held in September presented a bright and unforgettable Gucci show, where actresses Salma Hayek and Dakota Johnson were spotted in the front rows, as well as the editor of British Vogue Alexa Chung. Sensuality is felt in every element of the romantic and bold collection: the finest lace, accessories with hints of retro, glitter and contrasting color combinations.

As you know, in Italy, fashion is followed not only by the fair half of humanity.
Men’s Fashion Week in Milan
Following the women’s, Men’s Fashion Week is held in Milan twice a year. Fashion shows, which traditionally feature Giorgio Armani, Prada, Trussardi, Missoni and other famous brands, will take place in January and June.

Italian men, who are distinguished by their impeccable style all year round, are willing to experiment with style and accessories during this period.
Alta Moda Roma: haute couture fashion show
Although Milan is the recognized fashion capital, the main event in the world of high fashion – the Alta Moda Roma week takes place every year in Rome. Designers present haute couture collections at fashion shows, items from the collections are made exclusively to order.
Visiting a haute couture show in Rome is a feast for the eyes, luxury in every detail, a feeling of inspiration and touch of the ideal.
A bright fashion show at the last Alta Moda Roma 2015 (July 10-13) was the show of the Italian designer Sandro Ferrone. He presented a new collection in the historic residence Villa Laetita, the main guest of which was the model and actress Rocio Muñoz Morales.
Rome Fashion Week: Renato Balestra show fall-winter 2015/2016
The brand, Renato Balestra, named after its designer, once again amazed guests with the royal luxury of dresses. It is no wonder that Italian celebrities and first ladies of exotic countries order clothes from Renato Balestra.
Fashion show in Rome: competition for young designers
On the closing day of Rome Fashion Week, the 11th traditional competition for young designers Who is on next took place, organized jointly with Vogue Italia.
The winner in the Accessories category was Lolita Lorenzo. She demonstrated to the public a collection of bags in an oriental African style. And the main prize, the opportunity to develop his own capsule collection, which will be presented at the next Altaroma Fashion Week in January 2016, was received by the designer Lee Wood for L72.
